2011 Purse Information

Horse Racing Alberta has allocated $536,270.00 for all purses at Evergreen Park in 2011. Based on the 180-races we conducted over 25-race days last year  we’ll offer a minimum purse of $2,900. Purses per live race day will average $21,450.00.

We will not fund stake races in their entirety from the overnight purse pool. We may supplement stake races with the minimum purse contribution of $2,900, if the majority of money for a stake race purse is being contributed from a source other than the HRA’s money referenced above.

If for example either of the two breed associations contribute money for a stake race we can add up to $2,900 to the purse for that event. In the case of the American Quarter Horse Association Challenge Series races we can add up to $2,900 for the final.

This money is horsemen’s money. Evergreen Park’s only consideration is we want 7-races per day and we want to set our minimum purse to maximize the number of horses competing. Everything else is negotiable between ACTRA, AQHRA and Evergreen Park. Exact conditions and exact purses will be dependent upon the racehorse inventory that is available at the start of our meet.

We will shortly be open for training and we are excited about the prospects for horse racing at Evergreen Park in 2011.

We’ll see you in July if not sooner.

Sincerely,

Les Butler
