Memorial Weekend is being held August 15-16 at The Horses @ Evergreen Park at J.D.A. Raceway.
It is a day to recognize and honor those no longer with us who had an impact on the sport of horse racing in Alberta.
Memorial Weekend is one of several special events held during The Horses @ Evergreen Park.

July 5: Free Hot Dog Day – the season opener.
July 12: Baconfest – fundraiser for the County of Grande Prairie Firefighters Charitable Foundation.
July 19: Wiener Dog Derby – dogs running in the dirt. Too much fun!
July 26: Derby Day featuring the GP Oaks and GP Derby and Derby Brunch.
August 9: Family Fun Day – for the kids. All free and all fune!
August 15-16: Memorial Weekend – honoring those who are no longer with us who have made an impact on the sport of horse racing.
August 23: Mr. Mike’s Paint The Park Purple – Race For The Cure. This is to create awareness about pancreatic cancer.
There is no admission fee and first post is 1:15 p.m.
There is a beverage tent, indoor and outdoor betting stations, and both the Pines Family Restaurant and Wild Horse Casino & Lounge are located in the same venue. A $8.95 full breakfast (9-11 a.m.) is the feature menu item at both the restaurant and lounge.
The restaurant and lounge open at 9 a.m. and betting on the 99 slot machines and VLTs starts at 10 a.m. The restaurant is open until 8 p.m. and the casino until 1 a.m. daily.
