The Wiener Dog Derby is a fun-filled annual event held at The Horses @ Evergreen Park at J.D.A. Raceway in Grande Prairie. This unique event replaces the pounding of hooves with the pitter-patter of paws, featuring small-breed dogs, mostly dachshunds, competing in exciting heats leading to a championship final.
In addition to the races, there’s a dog costume contest, giving pups a chance to show off their personality and creativity. The dog races are scheduled between the thoroughbred pari-mutuel races, making for a lively and entertaining day for the entire family.
The Wiener Dog Derby is being held on Sunday, July 19 in 2026.
