Experience the thrill of live pari-mutuel horse racing every summer at J.D.A. Raceway in Grande Prairie, located at The Horses @ Evergreen Park.

The 2026 racing season begins July 5 and ends August 23, featuring 16 exciting race days on Saturdays and Sundays (and holiday Monday, August 3).

Highlights include crowd-favourite special events such as the Wiener Dog Derby, Baconfest, Derby Day, Memorial Weekend, Family Funday, and Paint The Park Purple – Race For The Cure.

At Evergreen Park, horse racing isn’t just an event—it’s a celebration of speed, tradition, and community. As the only facility of its kind in the region, Evergreen Park delivers an unforgettable experience for both passionate bettors and families seeking excitement. With live thoroughbred racing, thrilling Indian Relay Races, and a vibrant trackside atmosphere, each race day offers something special. Combined with excellent hospitality and a welcoming spirit, Evergreen Park stands as the premier destination for horse racing in Northern Alberta.

A Day at the Races

Admission is free, making J.D.A. Raceway at Evergreen Park the perfect summer destination for families, friends, and horse racing enthusiasts in Grande Prairie and the surrounding Peace Country.

The 2026 season starts on July 5 and continues every Saturday and Sunday (and Monday, August 3) until August 23.

First post every race day is 1:15 p.m.  

  • Seating & Viewing: Large public tent with tables, Adirondack-style chairs with umbrellas along the tarmac in front of the grandstand
  • Food & Beverages: On-site mobile concessions and beverage kiosks
  • Betting: Outdoor self-serve kiosks or indoor wagering at the MNP Concourse, including manned stations
  • Up-Close Horse Access: Get a closer look at the horses and enjoy the excitement of the track
  • Family-Friendly: Kids can play in the sand pile and participate in candy tosses during races
