Live Horse Racing in Grande Prairie

Every summer, July and August, The Horses @ Evergreen Park take over J.D.A. Raceway at Gordon Badger Stadium in Grande Prairie. Evergreen Park is one of only five locations in Alberta offering live pari-mutuel racing, making it a premier destination for horse racing fans.

Race Schedule & Details 2026

  • 16 race days starting July 5 and continuing every Saturday and Sunday, with Monday, Aug. 3 added, until Sunday, August 23.
  • Primarily thoroughbred racing, with select quarter horse events.
  • Many races feature Alberta-bred horses, with purses starting at $7,000 and climbing to over $20,000 for stakes races.
  • Admission is free, and families are welcome.

At the Wild Horse Casino & Lounge at Evergreen Park, enjoy dozen screens showing live races from across North America, including big events like the Kentucky Derby and Alberta tracks. Guests can:

  • Grab a chair and beverage
  • Print programs for tracks of interest
  • Place bets at self-serve kiosks
  • Collect winnings on-site

Evergreen Park Racing Club

The Evergreen Park Racing Club offers fans a chance to become “owners”. The Club typically runs a minimum of two horses during the summer racing season, with the possibility to race at spring and fall meets in Lethbridge.
