Baconfest, besides being tasty, is also a fundraiser for the Grande Prairie County Firefighters Charitable Foundation. The Foundation provides financial assistance, promoted community engagement, and delivers education that makes a real difference in the lives of local residents.
Proceeds from Baconfest food sales and a 50/50 will go towards the Foundation.
Baconfest is one of several special events being held during The Horses @ Evergreen Park this racing season.
Free Hot Dog Day was held on July 5 and the others include:
July 19: Wiener Dog Derby
July 26: Derby Day (GP Oaks and GP Derby)
August 9: Family Fun Day
August 15-16: Memorial Weekend
August 23: Mr. Mike’s Paint The Park Purple – Race For The Cure
There is no admission fee and racing goes every Saturday and Sunday (and holiday Monday, August 3) until August 23.
First post for every race day is 1:15 p.m.
There is a beverage tent, indoor and outdoor betting stations, and both the Pines Family Restaurant and Wild Horse Casino & Lounge are located in the same venue. A $8.95 full breakfast (9-11 a.m.) is the feature menu item at both the restaurant and lounge.
The restaurant and lounge open at 9 a.m. and betting on the 99 slot machines and VLTs starts at 10 a.m. The restaurant is open until 8 p.m. and the casino until 1 a.m. daily.
